Ballpark — a daily estimation game for the whole family

Five real-world numbers to estimate. Close counts — nobody expects exact.

What it is

Ballpark gives your circle five questions a day whose answer is a number: a height, a distance, a year, a count, a speed. Nobody expects you to know them exactly. The game is how close you can get, and the reveal after each one usually starts an argument.

How to play

  1. Drag the slider, or type a number. The unit is always shown.
  2. Lock it in.
  3. The reveal shows the true answer and a short fact behind it.
  4. Repeat for all five. There is no timer.

How scoring works

Each answer scores 0–100 on how close you got, measured as a ratio rather than a difference: being off by double scores about 70 whether the answer is 80 or 8 million, and being off by ten times scores 0. Your day score is the average of the five.

A worked example

An invented example, not one of the real prompts.

How many minutes are there in a week? The answer is 10,080. Guess 5,000 — about half — and you score 70. Guess 12,000 and you score 92.

Why it works across generations

Estimation is where life experience shines: a builder’s sense of length, a cook’s sense of weight, a kid’s fresh memory of a science lesson. There is no clock and no trick question, and a confident guess in the right ballpark scores well even when it is nowhere near exact.

How it feeds the family streak

Ballpark is one of the five scored games in a Streakhouse day, so playing it counts you as having played toward your circle’s shared streak. Everyone estimates the same five numbers, the leaderboard compares scores rather than guesses, and the share card shows your five scores and your total — never the answers.
